Crazy Joe's Sherman Rehabilitation

A parcel arrived from the UK and had some goodies in it for all of my American armor. The tracks are for the current build and the resin .50 cal ammo belts and cans will benefit 'Maxene', my HL Pershing and Taigen Walker. 'Maxene' is coming up on a mini redo here soon with some black steel gears and an idler mod I got the skinny on from Sassgrunt on the slate. I'll use this resin ammo and can to dress up her sweet Tamiya .50 cal at the same time. The Pershing will be getting a nice redo down the road which will include the black steel gears and this resin and one of the Tamiya .50 cals. ( I am really sold on those things ;o) and new paint. The Walker will get the same new gears and the new MG and details. The paint on it is from Taigen and excellent already. Tonight, I added a single link to the new tracks to bring them to 77 links apiece. I did this because the old tracks at 76 links were too tight and would have worn out the gearboxes with any serious use. I have new Mato running gear as well that was bought for 'Maxene' and not used. That along with these tracks will be a nice bit of kit to add to 'In The Mood'... Pictures:

Nothing in the Post today but plenty yet to do. Tonight I removed the bogies and stock electronics from the lower hull and prepped it for priming. I added back a couple of pieces of the rear bulkhead and switched out the worn idler mounts for the new ones on the other lower. I primed it then using the same excellent Tamiya Lt. Grey that I used on 'Maxene'. Pictures:

Thank you, Cup. This is a filler build that I have been promising myself to do for some time. With the experience gained from 'Maxene', it is turning out a lot better than I anticipated. Quicker as well. You're right, Herman, that _is_ a good movie title. Waylon is a handful right now but I expect that he will grow into a great dog. He has a lot of heart. How is that Tiger 1 of yours coming along, my friend?

"getting there" as the saying goes mate. Waylon looks like a beef eating torpedo right now, im a bit surprised with you being as dedicated Shermaholic as you are that poor young Waylon has not had his Tiger -stripes painted over to an olive drab

I don't think that he would stand still for it. He doesn't really stand still for anything. *chuckles* I don't think that I am a Shermaholic like the estimable Fynsdad or Canned Heat. I have two and may have three one day since the idea of a stock HL in 2.4GHz IR just to run around and have fun with sounds nice. 'Maxene' and 'In The Mood' can be my show Shermans. I have a KV-2A and a metal Tiger 1 planned for this year along with some interim cosmetic and gearbox work on my Pershing and Walker. Next year will mostly be spent turning a 1/6 Stuart into a real RC tank.

Some serious goodies in the Post tonight. From Alpha, I received a turned brass barrel for the M4A1 to replace the aluminum and plastic sleeve one on the tank now. I also received the bridge board for the cable plug in from the 2.4 GHz set in the lower hull. This piece is rare as Hen's teeth (at least it was for me) and it was very kind of Alpha to turn it over so 'In The Mood' would work. From Immortal Hobbies, I received the most serious looking Sound Pot I have ever seen. It will be mounted so opening a hull hatch will allow one to adjust the sound. Tonight, I am zipped from a social weekend so I managed to take pics of the new booty received and drill out the holes around the bow .30 cal mount for the pins a canvas cover would be mounted on. Glad you got the parts Painless... I kind of forget if I listed the color codes on that four pin connector I think I did... the thing about the Mato that I found was that red doesn't mean it was "hot"...also the machine gun was hooked in series with the left headlight ...so one side had no wire at all...suffice to say it was pretty odd ..I had to rewire everything adapting the Heng Long system in mine

Hopefully on your end the solution will be as simple...

Hey Painless...it's good to see the Mood is on the move again.... what I'm finding interesting is the differences between the 2.4 and the old model... the old one must have had a normal sized rubber hop up ... When I took the 2.4's apart thought it was funny that they had only a half rubber on it...and that the groove served no purpose ...good job on the mantlet
So I guess she'll be finished tomorrow
