What is the best place to get a Panther II turret?
What is the best place to get a Panther II or "Panther F" turret?
Re: What is the best place to get a Panther II turret?
Panther f is different to panther 2. You can can the f turret from welshdragonmodels.co.uk . The panther 2 turret you would have to scratch.

Pardon my ignorance, but ain't they the same thing ("F" and II turrets). I always thought this is a Panther II turret kit....... I guess I was wrong. I thought the only difference is on the chassis.

Just went thru my Achtung Panzer Series 3 on Panthers and as far as I can tell, F and II shares the same turret. The upper hull of II is closer to the KT layout. The sprocketS for F is standard Panther one but road wheels and idlers are similar to Late Tiger I metal ones, and for Panther II sprockets is similar to KT with fewer teeth, boggies and idlers are the same as KT. The whole idea I think was to consolidate and share parts with Late Tigers I for F and KTs for the II.......

Correct, the differance between the F and the Panther II is the chassis. However there are paper panzer enthusiasts that build versions with a larger gun in the Panther II but in my opinion the turret would have become to crammed and over taxed to install a larger gun than the L/70.
Re: What is the best place to get a Panther II turret?
PZ tracks book on the panther shows that just about everything was different between the f and the 2..the panther 2 hull had diffent mesurments and angles, the panther 2 turret was to be wider than the f. Hatches for the 2 were to be then ones on the panther A according to some and others say the hatches were to be the same as the kt...The one captured panther 2 has the panther g hatches but they were added after the war as was the panther g turret.

Scott's right, the two and the f are completely different including the turret. I would recommend the relevant panzertracts! I think I have the PDF knocking about if your interested.
Re: What is the best place to get a Panther II turret?
I think the Panther II is misnamed in Aberdeem. The chassis is definitely Panther II but the turret is just a "G" that they put on for testing.
Anyway, this is the turret you are after, right Jnewboy ?
