plastered the board with a mix of plaster of paris and potting mix. A bit of umber paint ,which turned the plaster pink !!, and leaf mix out of the blender.
Used the spare plastic tracks as printing dies to get a patch of tread impression. Turned out not so bad in the 'buff' so to speak.

Carried on with building the low stone wall I need for the outer edge of the base. Had the ground row inset with the plaster, and used slow setting two-pack epoxy to set the next few layers. Boy did this test the patience !
Used white glue to complete the higher stones as they were smaller. I intend to use paintbrush bristles set into the plaster in drilled holes to simulate taller grasses and will use some form of typical style ground cover mixture on the rest.
The track prints worked fairly well, but there was some slippage or shrinkage(hate that!) when dried. The Jagd almost slots into the printed track marks, but not perfectly.
I have a theme to follow and this will be plainly obvious once its all completed. The base will be a display mount so its not just stuck away on a shelf and I can still use it easily without disturbing to much diorama type intricacies.

The wine cork will not become a feature !! its there to prevent my often inatentive hand from getting an improptu hole in it, and just in case the curious 20 month old investigator climbs up & does the same thing.
The screw will secure a tree feature that is in fact still growing outside............once it degrades, I can easily replace it as required.

Herman,
I really like the detail that you have put into this. Inventive, useful and adds in-depth realism to your already excellent Jagdpanther. Keep up the pics, please.
regards,
Painless

Thanks Mr Painless, coming from you, thats a big boost. I reckon to get to the level that I can see is the top of this hobby , one must be a hybrid being...............Patience of Mother Teresa, Creative vision of Michael Angelo, Inventiveness of Jules Vern, and the eyesight of an Eagle. and you mate I include in that class.

Being that this machine is a classic ambush hunter, I have themed the display base accordingly.

the tracks almost pressed back into the printed impressions but without getting fussy for the picture , not quite sitting right.
Acceptable for now as its going to be lifted off the display base regularly.
The ground cover & dirt displacemet should help blend them giving weight effect to the base.
