Hi,
Just started in tanks, and wish to fit Heng Long accessory BB gun and recoil unit(4401070) to Sherman tank, but alas! no instructions, wiring details are supplied with the unit.
Can any of you knowledgeable help out
Many thanks

Re: Fitting Recoil unit Heng Long (4401070)
Bill,
First of all I believe the BB barrel will not work the recoil unit since there is a notch to hold the barrel in the mantlet. Otherwise the wiring is virtually identical (i.e. two from the recoil/BB motor, two from the trigger for the hull recoil/flash). Are you also thinking of installing a flash in place of the BB ?
Just in case I am not mistaken, there is no BB recoil currently available.

Thanks for reply, but item is listed as gun with recoil, has spring, piston and seal as per standard unit, has extra sleeve where barrel looks to fit, which is pulled back with the piston.Unit has no wiring or micro switch attached.

I have yet to find an online a guide to wiring the recoil unit you have and it is norm for HL to not provide fitting instructions for their hop ups!!!
Bill, it would help you and others if you took some photos of the recoil unit in detail showing all the electrical contact points on it. That way someone may be able to exactly point you at the correct points to solder the wires that went to the removed bb unit.
You will not get bb function and barrel recoil as MichaelC has stated.
You will need to change the barrel unless you are skilled enough to remove it from the mantlet and modify it.
Not a lot of room to work in a Sherman, most people modify the bb unit to take servo recoil but that means additional control functions are required.

Re: Fitting Recoil unit Heng Long (4401070)
Just had words with Dave (forgebear) and it would appear that most of the captions for above item (4401070) mislead you, as the all say bb firing with recoil, which one would think, that the unit has recoil built in ,but the recoil they are on about, is the kick on the tracks, therefore no point in pursuing that unit.
But if you know of anybody that has constructed a bb firing recoil unit I would be interested in getting some data.
Many thanks, for your help on this question

Bill,
Don't know If you are handy or not but when I do a google on BB and recoil I came across this which doesn't look too complicated and is quite ingenious.

Re: Fitting Recoil unit Heng Long (4401070)
That looks a simple option of having a BB gun that is fixed as normal but then siding a dummy barrel sleeve over the top of the BB gun barrel that recoils giving the impression that the whole unit is recoiling. Simple but quite ingenious I like it.
opp's you said get off the road
