Thanks for the vote of confidence Derek... but it's been a very long while since I've done that kind of kitbashing...and still being green under the collar as far as RC tankery goes.... to make the tank function properly would be my problem...the upside to it is... It is a good challenge... and if I'm lucky enough to find all the components I might just go for it ............. Just like what I'm doing with the Chaffee that's on the bench now

I think this has always been my favorite tank, (and it's called a VK 45.01 (P) by the way). There is a kit for it by Christian Ludwig, which was the only game in town before Hooben brought out their Elefant. The video link you posted was very enjoyable to watch, as it showed what he did to kitbash it. I wish he would have used the earlier (non-reinforced) mantlet in the build; but I'm just being picky - he did a great job! -Mike

Hello Dietrich....Yes what you say is true... it was a poor design.. too heavy.. and bad electrical ... I think the Elephant was a better solution for that chassis ....
With that said... not only is it a good project... but the Porsche Tiger would fit perfectly into the collection I am creating

I'm just not sure if I'm ready... or dedicated enough to finish it once I start

Thanks Edwin...In my mind I have an idea how I would go about it..... it's just the feasibility of the build... as i would need at least two tanks to build that one....and Hopefully if i did do it...the price of the two tanks wouldn't be astronomically absurd

The one in the video ... that was a rather high priced build ...the tamiya tiger... plus that Hooben kit...just those two alone add up to around a thousand dollars without the electrics then add in the resin ... etched brass ... and metal parts... you're hitting about 1800 to 2000 ...just a tad over what i'd like to spend for a toy tank

i do think it can be done with a couple of HENG LONGS... a TIGER... and a PANTHER G or a KING TIGER ...Leaving the entire upper hull to be built from scratch
and still it would be a pretty complex build

I guess it is one reason I am trying my hand at building a CHAFFEE TANK (which so far..has cost nothing) ...if I can finish that..... I might be practiced enough to take on the task

I agree... I watched it several times,,,,Those Japanese model builders are very good... their supply of model making supplies is amazing..... as I've seen the methodology before.. in different genre's of the Hobby

it is an object, but it is possible to build the Porsche Tiger also scratch.

But then I would use the aluminum tank by Christian Ludwig and the roller carriage and other parts of Asiatam drive and build the structure of plastic itself.

Everything else is much more expensive, or has nothing to do with this tank, just as the extraordinary drive makes up a large part of the character of this vehicle.
