Bit of a cock up on the Battle System front.
When trying to test the system, I realised that the reciever unit wasn't making proper contact with the socket, as in my efforts to reduce its height, I'd cut out the sprung metal pins.
Luckily I have some "spare" battle systems as I bought a job lot some years ago. So I had to break up another unit to get a socket off the pcb.
This time I reduced the height by cutting away at the bottom leaving the pins intact so I could re-solder them to the pcb. Below is a pic of the refitted socket on the right, compared to a standard unit on the left.

Then fitted back into the cut down guide.

Now that I had a non-usable battle system, I decided to use the cables to extend my modified unit, as after being clipped around the turret they were quite short, making it difficult to plug them in

ANOTHER SETBACK
I was still having no luck testing the battle system, I knew all my joints were sound, so I perched the Sherman turret on top of another tank and plugged in the battle unit and all worked well.
So, coupled with the afore mentioned lighting problem, looks like I've got a duff MF unit.
Bought it quite some time ago and have modded the supply cables so I guess a refund is out of the question
Anyone got a cheap MF-03

ONE STEP FORWARD.......TWO STEPS BACK
Got my replacement MF-03 unit on Saturday.
Left it on the outside of the tank and connected everything to it, and powered it with another battery, (as the fitted units are linked and connected with Deans sockets, and I didn't want to cut the Tamiya socket off till I new it all worked)
Fired up, and my suspisions were confirmed, Battle System worked fine
Will now spend the next couple of evenings replacing the MF-03 units

Sparks - geat build! Your surface textures and "micro-details" are pretty awesome.
Sawthe comment on the smoker condensate problem and looked at the pic. Attached sketch suggests some changes that should help eliminate the condensate blockage.
I'm tryingto find a better material for the smoke tubes - softer but not collapsible and that doesn't trap condensate as much. Wil post if I come up with something.

Thanks Danl,
My condensate problem seemed to vanish after the first few uses, i had tried the string suggestion but it didn't seem to help much, but all seems to be fine now
I needed more flexible tubing, so I bought some from my local hobby shop.

Can't remember what they said it was, I think it was silicone, but as you can see, it bends pretty tight and doesn't loose its form( it will bend tighter radius than that, but couldn't find anything smaller that was heavy enough to hold it in place, even the pliers struggled
).
I do remember it was bloody expensive compared to the ordinary tubing
If you can't find anything, let me know and I will get you some, you can pay me with Paypal.

Good work Sparks - I love your attention to detail and approach to all the little hiccups you have had to overcome.
I suppose if it all went according to plan there would be no fun it !!
Great work and thanks for all the great photographs you have taken - it almost feels like I am peering over your shoulder !!
