Ahem, Heeeeelllllll NO !!
Got the gunners sight mount on the mantlet. Pretty good fit once I changed to slow set Gel super glue.
Of course welds to put on before the primer can be applied.
Now on to the drivers mount. Have to make it but its no biggy.

Thanks mate.
Am using a bit of artistic licence here.
Really hard to get the right look for the drivers scope mount but finally happy with this arrangement.
Scraped off the area on the glacis clear of paint, dry fitted the scope & then gelled up the joints.
Held in place until the gel set keeping the scope in line with the drivers periscope block.
I did have to cut the eye relief from the scope so it can go under the weather hood & into position on the mount ( so it can be painted off line), but all in all looks ok.
Going to be a fiddly ass job to paint & cable up this lot but such is life.
Commanders set next..............loads more bits to get right.

The manufacturers recomendation for the gunners set !
Once the scope was removed in action & stowed in the big bin on the hull rear, there would have been an enourmous hole in the mantlet armour.
Mine represents a bit closer what it might have worked like, being up against the existing sight hole so as not to present any compromise to the armour.

Boy...look at all the great builds going on now ............looking at those night vision fittings makes me wonder if this Colonel was once a Zu Fuss

Funny, I was thinking the same thing when putting them on..................seemed to make my right eye want to close!!

I conceed that the Littlefield Panther did not in any way elude to having used any form of night vision hardfware, but the mystery mounts on the hull that got me going in the first place just added fuel to the "what-if" fire.
Now I have gone from wondering how to do some form of practical cable link hardpoint for the rocket firing system, to now include bloody NVG as well

Paint is an all over olive Grun base with a wide band splinter pattern in either Black Green or similar with a form of Hinterhalt dots...............depending on a test run of course.

It is said Pirates wore eye patches for night vision...when encountering a dark space they would lift the patch so that eye could see in the dark since it had been protected from light

Have to wonder if the assigned crew took similar measures....can you imagine accidentally looking through those scopes in the day

Got the weld compound on the NVG mounts late last night so I can get them primed.
Went out to a Model show today, the Queensland State champs no less.
Managed to get my hands on the first MIG Jiminez products I have ever seen.
Also got a book covering '45 and later German Tank camo, a Verlinden MG42, a Verlinden Tank crew set, and some stuff called "Panzer Putty" which is used for paint masking. Its like silly putty but seems to be a lot more solid when stretched and will definitely NOT leave that nasty mark like blue tack did to my Octopus King Tiger.
Also got a Russian colour set, so no need to blend or match when I do the T35/85.

Also found time to order another tank, this time a PzIV as these aparrently are being dropped by H/L(news from the Melbourne distributor by email)so I just got one in case !
Talked with the guys from the North Brisbane RC Tank club & enjoyed the runners on display.
Ken had his amazing Jagdpanther on the charge playing 'Panzer Leid" through the Elmod & frightening kids when the barrel fired then recoiled 6 inches from their face
