Modern German Captain scratch build

Post by tenerifecrimson »

For my small dio of a firing range, I need some figures but the problem is: I can't found what I am looking for! So, I decided to build my own figure using puty and some wire for the “bones”, few years ago I did it with 1/35 figures but this one gone be the first time for me at that scale.

As usually I was looking for some pictures as reference, I found this one of German soldiers in Ex-Yugoslavia. It shows well the difference of uniform.

I am using the tank crew from Tamiya as reference for the size. I started with the torso:

Then the legs:

When the body has dried, I put another kind of puty for the clothes. For his uniform I decided to give him the big jacket, with spats and the ballistic protection:

Next the harms and the ballistic protection, when all that’s done, I spray it in matt black:

When it’s dry I started the making of the Flecktarn camo:

While the paint is drying I start to work on the head, I tried to make the head by myself but the result is very bad, so I am using a Tamiya head. About the head painting I have a very special technique. I am using acrylic paint and pastel powers.

First the flesh color:

Next I am painting the shadows with pastel powder added of some water:

Again some flesh color:

Finaly for the drybrush I putted some pastel power and brushed it to “clear” some areas, here is the final result:

And the same head on the figure:
