Always enjoyed reading about the “Red Baron” so I bought this cool little foam RC kit from Microaces. It’s been a fun and easy build so far and I can’t wait to try my hand at flying it. It’s fantastically pre painted and fits together very easily. Here’s my progress so far. I know I have a Civil War gunboat, type VII U boat and a Panzer III going as well but this thing has my attention now.

Ummmm...............ya have a missing ingredient mate :shifty: :problem:

I too have a fascination with the 'Baron'.
Despite the official records, evidence suggests he was downed by ground fire.

Let us know how your maiden flight goes mate ;)

Man that's awesome , well done.
Herman if you're here I've tried to see how you are after the flooding mate ?
I sent you a message but sometimes I screw it up.
Sorry Jim we can nuke this after I find out if Herman is or isn't floating somewhere in the South Pacific ????

Good luck with the maiden flight, Jimster. Did you try practicing with one of those computer programs that simulates flight using the transmitter you actually intent to use with the real model?

I’ve flown many sims but my first attempts at hand launching the Fokker were unsuccessful. I’ve added a 3D printed pilot but haven’t tried to take off from the ground yet. I’ll get it figured out.
Back to working on my Civil War gunboat as well. Too many projects, too little time!

Jimster old friend I have no idea what kind of weather you get in Illinois but I fly 1/8 and larger with decent power as well as flaps and a meaty undercarriage, Carbon fibre reinforced on the DHC 2 Beaver, electric retracs on the others and I would not readily fly them in this part of the UK from October until March but a 1/24 would be more likely to last longer than one flight if it was flown inside.
Nice looking little thing though,
As Herman said he was supposedly shot down by an Aussie soldier but it has long been a matter of discussion, Captain Roy Brown has been suggested as the allied pilot who brought him down, Unlikely after all these years that we will ever know for certain.
What is certain is that with the passing of the Red Baron he was succeeded as squadron commander by his 2 I/C Hermann Goering yes him.Say what you like about him he was a very good pilot.

Hoping for calm conditions soon. Here’s my pilot ready for action.
My Civil War gunboat is close to its first water test as well. Too many projects, too little time. Image
