This diorama is dedicated to some friends who are working at the Bastogne Vehicle Restoration Center just beside the famous Bastogne Barracks.
It will show the inside of the garage with a TD M10 arrived for restoration as well as Willys Jeep.
The TD M10 is an old AFV kit, I voluntary removed some parts in order to get a better old and retired aspect.
If I chose the M10 it is for its open turret allowing me to show more details as well and a more deteriorate interior.
Like many tanks left as monuments, missing or damaged parts are removed of replaced with parts from other tanks (in the case of this one 2 wheels are from a Sherman even one doesn't have rubber on it any more)
The turret will be removed and placed beside the tank on a bench.
I first started with a layer of rust tones made with various acrylics brown (red brown, NATO, Hull Red, Flat Brown) some yellow and red and few drops of black tones.
The inside is also in a bad state:
Once the rust colour is dry, I used for the first time chipping liquid instead of hairspray and salt. The next layer supposed to be less faded than the last one is a mix of green (OD, OG and NATO) Once dry I used a strong flat brush to create the chips.
I let it dry, then I applied again a layer of chipping liquid followed by a layer of very faded green (field grey and NATO with some drops of white) I didn't follow any ratio as I also wanted to get variety of tones. Tanks left as a monument or static display are not always painted accurately that's the reason why this one have a mix of various colours.
All this was followed by some streaks and pigments.
It isn't finish yet but here is where I'm for the moment with it.

You have got that 'awaiting renovation' look down to a fine art, once that is set into a diorama it is going to look absolutely real. Top marks!

Looks desperately in need of WD40, and 'Kurust'- and that's a testimony to how effective the abandoned/ neglected appearance of this tank is

Seeing lots of various tanks throughout Europe you have the look bang on .
Ones out in less traveled areas seem to have the polished dark brown patina through the thin paint, where the ones in popular spots keep getting touched up to look better(the Sherman in Bastogne Square is an example)
