Voltage for Tarr MK4 smoke unit?

Post by stu_the_flat »

I've got a MK4 unit spare. I am wanting to use it for some smouldering scenery. I cannot find any documentation at all on it. I see that 12V is mentioned a lot. there is a PCB hidden in the heating wires, I assume that is converting the tanks 6-7v to 12V? and if I plug the fan into 12v its going to go like a banshee?

Edit. I've just unscrewed the fan. it wants 5V,

It looks as if you answered you own question. I have a Tarr smoker from a pile of stuff I bought some time ago. If I understand correctly, then, I could put that smoker somewhere in line after an ESC that drops the voltage to 5 volts, right?

I've got a snapped wire so I'm not 100% sure where anything goes! I would love a diagram so I could figure out what goes where. Or I could just rig it up to my 12v battery and I'm sure in a short space of time it will be generating a very realistic looking fire! :)
