Convoy Light Hook Up?

Post by Jimster »

I received a cool early style convoy light and I was wondering if I could simply hook it up to the speaker wires. It came with a resistor. I don’t have any connectors but I originally thought I would connect it to the headlight wiring but I want to eliminate an extra connection between the hull and the chassis. The convoy light is a SMD LED. Any better ideas or suggestions?

I connected mine to like this.
A jst 2.5 connector to be able to take it off. The wires go to the wires for the front lights. So it comes on with the front lights. No need for resistors as these pins give the required voltage. Image

In case you can't see. The wires are soldered to the relevant pins of the upper hull cable. This eliminates another direct connection to the upper hull. The jst is optional.

For crying out loud! I just realized that the Taigen V3 mfu has a socket designated as “tail light”. Guess I’ll hook into that. Sorry for asking a silly question. I blame the whiskey.

That's a nice surprise. We'll spotted. Perhaps the whiskey helped?
Elmod Fusion ECO has no light ports. Need to improvise.

Got it working. I love the way it looks. Gives the rear end a little more eye candy

The tank itself appears to be well done. Quite some weathering.

Thanks. I tried not to overdo the weathering but without rear mud flaps I figured the corners would take a beating. I need to add a spot or two on the convoy light but for now I enjoy it’s new look.

Amongst the MFUs in my Tanks I have an ASP2 as well as a Taigen V2 in a couple of Panzer 4s, both of these boards have a rear light socket.
I have always wired my "Notek" Light to the headlight points on the daughter board in the PZ4 Tank Body with a switch to separate it from the headlights.,
I was wondering if I buy a PZ4 Convoy lamp and plug it into the rear light socket of the ASP2 or V2 could I wire the "Notek" light into the rear light socket as well instead of the headlight position on the daughter board ?
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
