ESC and sound for 1/6 tanks

Post by minimivic »

After buying and doing lots of upgrades on the 1/6 T34 we have I am looking at speed control and sound options. viewtopic.php?f=150&t=26610
Basics are its a Mark 1 tanks T34 24v with a Simple tank control board. It runs 2 x 350 watt motors.

1.I need Speed control
2.Turret turn
3.Main sounds for tank
4.Sound for MG, with light
5.Sound for Main gun with Light

Possible Solutions?:
1. Sabertooth 32amp ESC it does 24v and gives a 5v to the Receiver https://www.dimensionengineering.com/pr ... rtooth2x32 (350watt / 24v = 15 amps approx) £99
2. Any small ESC should do this
3-5 can all this be done using a Benedini TBS mini

What else should I consider or use as the dealer upgrade is circa £500 and I cant afford that right now.

I use the Sabertooth 32A for Armortek 24V tanks, so it should be fine in yours.

I use Syren speed controllers for the smaller motors.

TPA3116D2 or TDA7498 Class D amplifier for the noise. If you run two speakers, look for 2x100W ones, as they have a chip per speaker, so won't max out on current draw.

If your turret turn is a big servo, you'll need to provide it with its own 5V supply, or it will drag the main 5V line down and kill the tank. Not permanently but it will need a reboot. BTDT.

Adrian,

Great info for the amps, do you run the Benedini?
Turret is 12v I believe (but not tested it) direct from the TCB its a motor not a servo.

Yes, I use a mix of the old TBS5 and the TBS Mini. I love the Benedini T-34 sounds.

Wiring diagram should be similar to this, I have simplified some areas.

One slight niggle with the diagram B|

There should be two more links, from the TBS Mini to the ESC.

Out of curiosity, is the Beier usm rc2 a useable alternative to the tbs mini, what I’m trying to ask is if it can do the same or more than the tbs.

https://www.beier-electronic.de/modellb ... m-rc-2.php

I’m just starting to work out what I’ll need for my T35-A.

You might want to take a look at the thread I did on my 1/6 hetzer. I used a sabertooth 2x32 to control the motors, and everything else is run by an ibu2 Pro. I'm using the Servo operated Barrel recoil circuit to pull the trigger on the paintball Cannon, I'm using gun elevation to control Traverse on the remote mg34 and of course the IBU provides machine gun sounds and LED flash. The ibu2 with the TPA amp provides all the sound through a pair of four-inch speakers and it sounds just fabulous.

I fitted the Sabertooth 32amp esc last night.

Does anyone have any information on the programming of the curves or pictures of there drive curve. The tank now acts like a F1 car. Instant throttle response and fast, not very tank like.
