Hi there unfortunately it is not compatible with the Tamiya system but! You can fit a Mako board that changes the signal so the Tamiya system will then work with your heng long Tank.
Other options are out there but the price then get much bigger!

Thanks for your answer. I suspected that would be the case. I wont bother buying a tamiya unit then as I wont want to have a battle between my King Tiger and Tiger.

I think my next purchase now will have to be a HL T34 with IR as I just can't get enthusiastic about a Sherman. Maybe later then I can pick up a HL Jagdpanther with IR and have some battle action :D

Hi If your just battling with your own tanks , you don't need to bother changing from Heng Long ,but if you intend going to a meeting then you will need a Tamiya compatible system. Three things you can do is fit a Mako board the RX18 (cheapest way).
next is fit either a Clark board or an IBU , IBU is slightly more to buy but can be used in more than one type of tank you will also need a Hobby grade radio and receiver and a battle unit (Ian who sells the IBU does a package which is the cheapest I have seen ).
Clark is a good board but only sold in the U.K. by someone who is on the Blacklist for bad customer service(Tankzone)

Thank you guys - some great info' there and that has given me plenty to consider. I really like the idea of being able to match my Tamiya's against say........a HL T34.

I will certainly consider the meeting angle as well though just in case it's something that I decide to have a pop at.

Another Q...... is it better to buy a HL T34 with IR already fitted or add it later ? There doesn't seem to be a lot of the IR equipped one's out there - saw some from a site in Germany but it seemed quite a lot of money and that was without metal hull/wheels/tracks which I hope to have at least at some stage.

You can buy the IR system for around £15 but the Tanks with out IR tend to be airsoft so wont have the gun recoile but again you can buy the recoile unit for £9.99
Best thing to do is Talk to Dave / Forgebear he will be able to get you a T34 at a very good price ;)

Oh no - what a dipstick!!! I've ordered a Taigen T34 with IR system from rctank.de ....then I saw your posts. I will look to get all of my accessories from forgebear as I know he has a great reputation and I will message him now about equipping my Tamiya KT to battle. Thanks for your replies.
