Heng Long Dual Current Driving System

Post by TicTrac »

Hello Everyone.

I'm looking to increase the speed of my Challenger 2 without installing a higher voltage battery or replacing the TK6.0S control board.

Does anyone have the HL Dual Current motor/gearbox systems installed in their tanks? Do they provide a speed increase compared to the standard motors/gearboxes or the HL Ultimate motors/gearboxes combinations.

Also, I think they are compatible with the TK6.0S but has anyone experienced any problems in this respect?

I've timed my Chally 2 at 0.6 m/s and saw a YouTube video of an Abrams with the Ultimate system travelling at 1 m/s but would like my model to move faster still, perhaps towards 2 m/s.

By my calculations, after applying a 1/16th scale reduction for the model (dividing the top speed of the real tank by the square root of the scale i.e. 4), 1 m/s only equates to a scale speed of about 10 mph which is a bit sluggish.

Many thanks,

Paul.

increase the speed? 8O apart from replacing the motors and gearboxes? and again, to know if the rest of the mechanics will support, caterpillars, undercarriages, etc?

According to this page 0.6m/s i equivalent of 21mph / 34kmph so it's too slow. Gearboxes in HL are fast so I would try with changing motors first.

Hi Everyone.

I swapped out the standard HL motors in my Chally 2 for these:

I also added a fuse between the 7.2V battery and the control board to protect it in case both tracks get jammed under full load.

The tank speed has increased to 1.3 m/s which I believe equates to a scale speed of about 50mph - faster than the full size Chally 2 and would probably be more realistic for faster tanks such as the Abrams and Leopard 2. It's still great fun having more speed though.

Overall the tank moves well and there have been no problems with the fuse blowing when the tank is used outdoors and on grass.

All the best,

Paul.
