Pershing 27MHz to 2.4GHz conversion issues

Post by AndyC »

So I have this Pershing (with smoke & sound) with a defunct 27MHz crystal receiver/transmitter.

I've acquired a 2.4GHz MFU (5.3S) and matching transmitter but there seems to be some incompatibilities with the Pershing. The right joystick needs to be moved left/right for forward/reverse and up/down to spin, I guess this is easily sorted by reversing a motor connection?

The gun elevation and turret rotate functions are swapped on the left joystick, I guess a little rewiring to swap the connections to the motors would sort this?

BB fire isn't working. How to fix this?

Smoke, sound and machine gun all work fine.

Thanks for any help!

Check gearbox plugs and so on make sure they are the right way round etc. It can sometimes impact that
It’s your tank it’s what you make it

All plugs tight and right way round.

Just noticed that the barrel elevation doesn't work when the gun motor switch is off, also the BB firing motor runs when the left joystick in the up/left position and the fire button is pressed.

OK, done a bit of reading up. Seems that the original upper hull connections aren't compatible with newer HL MFUs.

Please can anyone point me to a (simple!) guide to rewiring this? In the upper hull the Pershing has the 8 pin connector plus a 2 pin connector for the rear lights.

Thanks!

Thanks for this, my grasp of French is limited, do I understand that the diagram shown on page 3 is the way the upper hull 8 pin socket is wired originally, and the diagram shown on page 4 is how it should be wired to work with the HL 5.3 MFU?

Well I've sorted it out in the end, all working as it should now after a bit of rewiring...
