HL Tiger 1 not responding.

Post by Newage »

Hi All

This is a pain as I`m not RC-electronics savvey.

My Tiger 1 has stopped responding to my transmitter, when you power up the head lights flash but on pressing the "start" button on the transmitter nothing happens.
My HL tiger uses the 27MhZ type crystals TR/TX.

OK so far -
I`v changed the transmitter batteries
I`v charged the battery up (put a meter across the switch and it`s reading 7.2V)
I`v changed the crystals in the transmitter and the tank for new one.

Anybody close to south Oxfordshire so I could try a different transmitter ??
or any other help, there was a problem the same as this one but the guy who posted back in April never updated the post to say what did
and did not work and what happened in the end.

Thanks guys

Well thanks for the quick reply.
So on inspection a school boy error was found, now have the right crystals in the right location, but still no difference.

Crystal type - TX/RX 27.145 / 01

Is there a way to test them with a multimeter, I can't keep buying sets of crystals in the hope that they are duff.

Hi All
just a quick update.

A new set of 03 crystals turned up yesterday and a replacement transmitter from Howes models (£14.99 inc postage)
and I`m pleased to report that the Tiger is now running again.

Cheers

Hi Mike, before you junk the old transmitter, check that the batteries are making proper connection as the transmitters have plastic separators between the batteries which sometimes cause the batteries not to seat/make proper contact. You can check this by testing the voltage between the first and last battery connector. I have had this problem numerous times and it is a pain in the fundament!
