A Christmas toast of your favorite libation and a virtual piece of my pastry stuffed with sausage and cream cheese topped with shredded cheddar cheese. It’s still hot so be careful!

As it's Christmas, you're forgivenHerr Dr. Professor wrote:Oh goodies! Oh, goof: I posted my Christmas photo under "General Discussion." If any moderator wants to move it here and dump this, please and thank you. Above all, Frohe Weinachten.
Besides, as it has a tank picture, it is sort of tank related general discussion

Re: Merry Christmas!
Slightly late for a White Christmas...but a lot of white things in the garden this morning! Of course, it's still Christmastide until the Twelfth Night (and for some- Christmas Day is the 7th Jan ).
Christmastide's an interesting term. 'Tide' was the Anglo-Saxon word for 'Time', and 'News'. Think:- Tide/Zeit and Tiding/Zeitung in English and German, once sister languages. A wee factoid
Hope you're all safe and well!. Terry- hope you're fully fit again. All the best.!

Re: Merry Christmas!
Thank you for the “tide/time” etymology. As geezerdom was approaching, I resisted getting a smart phone (all that money not going to hobbies; what a waste). But I gave in because I was always wanting to look up word origins no matter where I was. (...remember when we used to be able to leave home?) Of course, the audiologist’s vehement objections to my ten-year-old cell phone had something to do with it.
