Hi
A little about myself, i am British, but retired to France. I have always been interested in militaria, and i have a vast collection of uniforms, guns, swords, bayonets etc. I also love trains and have a fairly large OO layout. My other big love is Nelsons Navy, and have a Collection of 1:72 ship Models, some made by me, some not! Have had to stop making ships due to an allergy to some glues!
So thought I’d try RC tanks. I have a tank connection as my Father was a Polish conscript in the Wehmacht during WWII. I have his war papers and at one time he was a Sturmgeschütz III driver, until captured near Remargen.
I have been given a few Heng Long Tanks, have purchased the Heng Long Stug 3, and now I’m making the Tamiya M26 Pershing. I like to modify kits if I can, and have modified the Stug to fire from the mantlet, not the drivers window! I will post what I did, for what it’s worth
That’s about it, looking forward to a new hobby, as if I need one lol.

The forum gods have now been appeased :/

Plenty of expertise here for your new habit, and I suspect many more will be interested in your other hobbies 8)

Welcome! Your screen name suggests you must be fond of dogs!
Anyway, that's an interesting, and fulsome modelling CV.
As for the Wehrmacht connection, the family of my daughter's current partner all served in the Wehrmacht (but...willingly :shh: :D ). Indeed, I was sent a few period photos lately of them proudly sporting their (then) new uniforms.
My late father, (a WW2 Recce trooper) would be delighted to see them... (Not! :D )

Hello and welcome to the forum Mr Winalot

I have friends that have moved out to France, to save trying to spell the area's names, apparently they live in Departments 49 and 53.

Thank you for the introduction, for me it is very interesting, I've always loved those old sailing ships, and at 1/72nd scale, they certainly are something I would have loved to have had.
We do have a couple of sections, one for non RC Warships, and one for RC Boats.
And if ever you feel like posting any pictures of your ships, I really won't complain

Likewise we look forward to seeing any progress with your tanks as you progress

Enjoy the forum.
Mick.

Thank you all for your welcoming comments. I would be glad to post some pictures of my vast and varied hobbies. Can I do that straight away, or do I have to be a member for a while?
I recently found a picture in a book of some German tank drivers in Russia, I was gob smacked because I’m certain it is my Father, the time and Place is right, but the rank is not. He was never a Panzer under officer as pictured, but who knows!
Please tell me if and how I can post pictures and under what heading.
Regards
W

There is no time limit with picture posting, we love pictures.
As for how, I believe the forum can accommodate pictures up to 350 kb, otherwise you'd need a hosting platform like imgur to post them.

Oh, and if you do post in the wrong place, no worries, one of the team can move it, and I'm sure you'll get the hang of things.

Post away, there is a size limit for uploads so it is a little tricky. If you press the Full Editor button you will find options to upload pictures.

Be wary of book captions, my family has had similar experiences - the official history of Perkins Engines has a picture captioned as "the P6 build line in 1948" - except the fetching gent working on an engine in the picture is my Grandfather, who didn't join the company until 1956...
