Been around a while and never introduced...

Hello everyone. I'm near Austin, TX in the US. Been a member of the forum since sometime in 2017, but hadn't really been active till lately. Moved last year and now I have a proper place to work on my tanks so progress is finally being made. Well and I was out of work for a few months so that helped get me back building also. Currently working on converting several Trumpeter 1/16 kits into R/C versions using Taigen metal T34 hulls: SU-100, T34/76 1942, and T34/76 1943. Also have a HL Abrams, Tamiya KV-2, HL KV-1, and Hooben T-55 in various stages of work. I've also scratch built some larger 1/6th scale tanks for use in paintball combat.

Oh yeah. I also have two 1/6th 21st Century R/C Humvees, a couple of those 1/16 WPL trucks, both of the Trumpeter 1/16 MRAP kits, and a Torro 1/16 halftrack. Too many projects...so little time.

Welcome back and glad that things are looking up for you,
As to R/Cing Trumpeter's kits good luck with that,
I would be reluctant to have to put aside so much detail that comes with Trumpeter's Static kits so I could squeeze in Gearboxes and other bits and pieces and they are a bit too flimsy for my ham fisted efforts BUT they sure look good of that there is no doubt.

Would be interested to see some pics of your paintball campaigners (with, or without, colourful battle damage)
It's good that circumstances now allow you a bit of hobby time, away from the daily grind. :)

Here's a vid of the KV-2 in 1/6th scale. It's actually made from PVC sheets. Mostly 1/4" and 1/2" so it weighs a ton. There are some other vids of the paintball tanks on my channel. Tracks are made from steel conveyor belt and are about 25lbs. each. Motors are geared 450W at 24V. Probably weighs in the 120lb range.

The T34 based conversions are going on Taigen plastic/metal hulls.

The Trumpeter M1A1 hull is much thicker than the older kits. It actually has an outline of a battery cover on the lower, what looks to be gearbox mounts, and mounting stubs for suspension.
