Mick's got the ticket, it's as simple as that. For 1/16 Scale, 1/16" = 1", 1/32" = 1/2" etc.... Converting that to a decimal equivalent and it makes selecting material sizes pretty simple. Your cell phone likely has a calculator which makes it a snap. :thumbup:

No need to convert to that Alien metric system! :haha:

Hi Chuck. What you see here is the problem of forums, which is how we can sometimes make a meal of a simple question!

Metric or imperial its exactly the same. Just divide the length of the real thing by the scale number. You can always use a calculator to do this

So, if the real thing is 10 foot long and you want that in 1/35th scale, divide 10 foot by 35.

If its 10 inches long, then divide 10 inches by 35.

If its 10 metres long, divide 10 metres by 35 - etc etc, you get the idea.

If you are working on a 1/72 scale model, then devide the length of the real thing by 72.

Now its me that's labouring the point, but keep it simple!

Do you have any pictures of your tank?

As has just been said, "What you see here is the problem of forums, which is how we can sometimes make a meal of a simple question!"

So ignore my previous ramblings, and take Herman's simple advice :thumbup:

As in, convert feet to inches before dividing by the scale.

96" ÷ 35 = 2.74 inches (which you can see at a glance is close to 2 3/4 inches, much easier to work with than;

8' ÷ 35 = 0.228 feet
