we think it will take about 5 years will only weigh 7 .5 tons, so it is a tiger externaly only 1 and 1/4 inch plate, some guys from holland have offered to weld it and a bunch of people from all over the world have offered to help but it is a slow and methodic exercise 2 years in the planning we are under talks with a large german lorry company for sponsorship of an engine.

Hi Anglosaxon Welcome to the Forum :clap: :thumbup: :wave:
If you think being 65 makes you a loner stand back for a surprise because there are plenty of members of this Forum who exceed that. :{
Your plan to build a 1/1 Tiger 1 shows how age has nothing to do with innovation,
In common with everyone else here I shall be following your progress with great interest.
Enjoy this place it can be a source of erudition as well as fun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

mick the mild steel is 1 and 1/4 inch plate, so it will hold the turret no problem
