Hello from Michigan, USA

Good evening folks........I’ve scoured the web and found this site so I could glean information as I move forward on a project.

Back in 1991, I bought a Tamiya King Tiger (56004) and partially assembled it. The project sat fallow for a couple of years when I palmed the kit off on a younger brother (Andy). He was into RC dirt track cars at the time and I thought he could have some fun with it. Last month I dug it out of storage and decided to see what’s what. Andy had made some modifications (and lost some parts) that made finishing the kit (as it sits) impossible. Now I need to see if this project is salvageable. For that I will need some guidance and this is the place to get it. After the holidays, I’ll post some details and pics so I can get the ball rolling on this gig.......many thanks in advance for the help.

The second half of this is that I’d like to get a M4A3E8 105mm version (Tamiya 56014) and have a clean slate to start with on a new project.

have a look around and when you have time post some pictures of your tank and ask as many questions as you would like

Your Google Drive is asking for access the the person attempting to view it's accounts and data. Not sure if everyone will want to allow that

Ah ha......I’ve figured out how to use pics from my iPad without going to photobucket, imgur, etc. Woohoo!

It’s really a sad commentary when I take the greatest joy in the smallest accomplishment.

No small accomplishment.

Photos on forums have been driving most folks around here a little crazy.

The Tapatalk app makes adding photos a doddle, no 3rd parties involved

I just like the way the photos post if I use imgur. It's a little more inconvenient but I think it makes for a better looking thread. I copied the photo Dayle posted and re-posted it here through imgur. You can see the difference for yourself.

Now back to the original purpose of the thread ...

Welcome aboard, Dayle. I'm down in the D, telegraph and five mile area (actually Redford but less than a half mile from the Detroit city limit). I know you're the other side of Lansing from here, but that's not too bad a trip so you might want to check out Detroit Tank Command. They still have summer battles in Hazel Park, if IR battles are an interest to you.

What kind of parts does your King Tiger need? A lot of the Tamiya parts like tracks and roadwheels can be upgraded with new parts, and if it's electronics there are a few good choices that can still battle with Tamiya tanks, like the IBU, the clark and the asp. All these boards are known here and there are members that have become quite familiar with them.

When you get ready to buy the Sherman I would suggest you check out the AAF Tank Museum in Virginia, since they have them for about the best price around and are a well known and reputable vendor.
