My Challenger 2 journey so far

Hi all. I have finally figured out how to post videos and pictures so I thought I'd start off with a few videos of my Challenger 2 build so far. I will do a pictoral build history soon (once I've figured out how to do it!). The emphasis for my build is more on fun/enjoyment and visual impact rather than scale model accuracy and detail. The original concept being to gain attraction at my charity stall (Help Our Wounded) hen we are out at shows - definitely a success! Anyway, I hope you like it :)

How she looked out of the box - I think someone managed to drop-kick the package at some time! As she came with all metal running gear my first task was to upgrade the gearboxes once I'd fixed the broken idler and a few other pieces.ImageImageImageImage

At this point I realised that the standard configuration wasn't up to the task of coping with the weight so I pulled the trigger and got an extra-large order from DKLM! Also at this time I figured I'd need a new control board to drive the DKLM PDSGB and might as well get some extra power as well. Several chats with Stian Sollie confirmed that I'd be able to run 3s lipo with a TK60 board ImageImage

I also made the decision to get the extra armour kit from Armoured Models (James Canham)ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

The next step was trying to figure out how to make the glass work look more realistic. After a few attempts with various nail varnishes I settled on some black chrome effect sticky vinyl I found on eBay. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

The next step was to go with the Megatron kit - also supplied by James Canham. This is pretty much how she looks now - a work in progress (with some more mods in the immediate future!)ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Whilst waiting for my repaired/updated TK60 to arrive (and the bolt heads for the side plates) I decided to get started on installing the Tamiya IR Battle system and the gun recoil, "upgrading" the coaxial machine gun at the same time.

Definitely nowhere near as skilled/detailed as most other builds but I am slowly gaining confidence and having fun figuring out how to achieve the things I want with this tank!ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Beautiful, fun videos! Nice looking tank and great choice going with a Clark board.
