Thank You Niels
maybe Your tanks never suffered, Wibblywobbly
even that first T-14 (PLA) was ok in the car for the short time.
but on the direct sun was melted very fast.
i can absolutely understand if you dont trust me, because i was in the same position 1-2 years ago.
3Dlabprint 3D printed RC airplanes is printed with PLA, so what.
what?
melted on the direct sun, standing on the table on the first show
it took 20-30 minutes.
here in Slovakia, we dont have tropical weather at all.
I did not buy PLA from that time.but ASA is pretty badass sort of material (its melting down in the range of 90-110°C).i love that and i have completely replaced PLA with that.
PLA sprockets was rock-solid.i have destroyed some gearboxes, tracks... but sprockeds are still in great condition.
i dont have tested that new ASA sprockets in terrain yet, but i hope i can start some test drives in two weeks.
sprockets was printed with 70% infill i think.maybe 80%.i dont use higher values for infill.
PLA is harder material, even on the rockwell scale.have better tensile strength value.its more suitable for sprockets.
so i have to test this new ASA sprockets and if i broke even one teeth, i have to print sprockets with PMMA (plexiglass).
its hardest FDM material for this time i think (but i am not sure).its even hard to cut this 1,75mm fillament.very specific material.
printing of the little parts like this from PMMA is not difficult.
about the roadwheels - yes.PLA roadwheels are usable and durable (before melting).
i have two bearings in the Armata roadwheel.
new roadwheels consists from the ASA wheels and TPE88 (soft rubber) rings have to be tested, but i dont see any reason to failure.
3D printed roadwheels can be better like the stock heng-long roadwheels.
-there is no backlash in my axles and wheels
-every axle in the vehicle can be easily centered, including turret-turning motor sprocket.
- 3-bearings anti-backlash turret ring
-each of the important axles have bearing (there are lots of bearings in the armata)
-every screw in the T-14 have
nut (inserted after the printing)
-builded-in tracks tensioner
3D printed RC tank can be mechanically better like stock chinese RC tanks.why not...
wait for my next project
WW2 related.real scale 3D model of the new vehicle is almost ready.
