T-14 Armata

Post by 50koruny »

hi.let me introduce my first RC tank - 3D printed T-14, scale 1/16.
at the first, i was just drawing Armata for printing myself one little static model to shelf.but i have drawed too much details so i have decided to print a big one to see that details.from there was only short way to go RC.
i am making that tank since november 2016 and i am printing second and final vehicle right now.
first was prototype with limited functions, mostly printed from PLA.i have tested all that stuff and redesigned whole vehicle according to experience with printing, assembling and test drives.
rework took another 6 months but i have fully-operational T-14 ready to print.
drawed completely with solidworks, printed on my own full-steel dyi printer.
few of the biggest improvements:

- completely reworked outer body
- optimized suspension system
- new mounts for suspensions
- better mounting for smoke generator
- new universal mounts for gearboxes, all holes ale blinded now
- universal sytem for cables organization added
- on/of switch under the hatch
- optimized traces for front lights cables (2 ways for every light)
- smaller turret rotation system
- added/removed some parts for easier printing and better details
- upper engine cover prepared for Mato MF3010 speakers
- videocamera on the side of the canon
- 2 different miniturrets (with 360° rotation or solid for IR battles )
- all rubber on tank is printable from flex now
- new servo-controlled canon

i am so excited from that second vehicle
i am printing some of the last parts right now and i have to prepare that beast for the paint.
using XTC-3D for surface finishing.tank is printed mostly from ASA (i love that filament), some parts have to be printed from PET(G), PMMA and FLEX.
first one was equipped with RX-18.now i have Elmod PRO for the second one because i have 4 servos in turret (and because is much better).
its designed to be equipped with wide range of heng-long/torro mechanic parts.long or short shaft gearboxes of different shapes (i have tried 4 types).HL airsoft or recoil unit (or servo controlled canon) etc.i can use HL T-90 tracks too, but i like my printed tracks (ABS).

That is one awesome build. 8O

50koruny are you planning to make any of the STLs available on something like thingiverse, I am sure there would be many people who would love to build this model?

thank you.
i have some of my designs published on thingiverse (not related to RC) i like to publish a free files there
https://www.thingiverse.com/50koruny/designs
but this is not that kind of STLs.for example, there is 3400 sketches in basic hull model (basic 1/1 model of real hull).this Armata STLs is most valuable thing in my house right now.i am not sure what to do with that right now.

even if i wanted to publish that files, you are not able to assemble that kit without the assembly guide (non existing) because theres lots of things what need to be done in some order.for example - you need to put 3mm screw for smoke launcher axis before you put glue on the last part of the shield.if you dont make all in proper sequences you are not able to put that screws inside.making an assembly guide can take another 3-6 months of my life.

anyway, i am not that kind of people whats offering almost 2 years of work for free.sorry. :{
i like to design RC tanks and i want to make more of this.maybe i can try to ask UVZ for licence and become pro.
if it changes from dream to reality, I will be able to release at least one new tank yearly and make it even cheaper like heng-long.

ps.: next one will be STRV-103.

thank you :)
i have to prepare that kit for painting now.need to take more photos.
i have some 3D model previews for now.

2 different configurations of the turret (3 canons)
turret is ready for both options.dont need to cut or drill.

overlay of heng-long airsoft gun
vezaHL.JPG
overlay of my own servo-driven gun
vezaWP.JPG
miniturret with 360° rotation
mini360.JPG
and with heng-long IR receiver (static one).IR emitter is in the little hole beside the canon.in the tube off course.
mini_infra.JPG
miniturret can be changed within 10 minutes.its just 2 screws there.

oh - and commanders hatch and that big service doors on the upside of the turret can be opened.big doors are used to feed the airsoft gun with balls and there is main switch under the commanders hatch.
