I did a 1/18 21st Century M48 into an rc version long ago using the rc parts from a very old 21 Century Abrams. Others have done it with HL electronics. Not really that hard to do but the scale difference is too noticeable to place it side by side with a 1/16th rc model.
Mine ran good but the lack of suspension was very noticeable.

Re: M60A3 6/22/16 NEW Question, M60 wheel base length

Post by BarryC »

I am hoping someone can help me with this.

Is the wheel base, Idler center to sprocket center longer on the M60 than the M26; is so how much?

Thanks in advance!

There are two m60 builds on here Barry that should help you, they were some time ago so you might need to use the search bar.

The reason for my questions.

Looking at the stock M26 chassis I see that the front road wheels are not equally spaced to the second nor is it mounted on it's own suspension arm as are the others.
The M48 and M60 has 6 evenly spaced road wheels so I have been trying to come up with a way to accomplished that without a scratched lower.

My idea is to combine two Tamiya M26 lowers cut "strategically" then reassembled to give me 6 equally spaced road wheels.

What do you think?
