Kill rings

Post by Ragnar »

Wondering what folks are using for kill rings on their panzer? Checked out 1/16 inch pin stripping but it’s pricey for what I need,$10 a roll and I don’t need 20 yards of it lol
Guess I could just paint them on.
Also color? White/ black ....either?
But it’s a dry heat!

Use painters tape and either airbrush or brush. Just do one ring at a time and make sure dry between doing rings...

Put teeth braces rubber bands over the barrel and paint in between them.
As many as you like.

Does anyone know if kill rings were worn on Tanks in combat ?
I ask because logic says if an enemy sees such markings then it becomes a target.
I accept that for propaganda and morale the display of them on parades would be encouraged but not up the sharp end.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Propaganda pics , yes , tooth end of the war , highly doubt it.

Peddinghaus sell a sheet of water slide barrel Kill Rings in 1/16.
There are 11 different German Armoured Vehicles on the sheet but the cost is prohibitive at £22 including postage.

Although some units were against the use of them, kill rings were definitely used throughout the war and not just for propaganda. White is the typical colour but I have seen black used on a whitewashed tanks also...
