Leopard 1 A4 Finally Running

Post by Yellowshaker »

I got this kit some months back, it is the re-released static version from 2010. After a ton of work, including machining most parts for the main gun, making all the parts for a functioning elevation and servo recoil system, adding bearings to all the stock wheels, installing ETO Armor transmission units, and a host of other fun. I am very happy with the end result, but doubt I will ever build another of these. Second I have done, and that is more than enough. Here are some images of it finished and a test video. Had to use google drive links because I cannot load photos here. In any case, the only thing I was not able to get were to rubber padded tracks, which kind of sucks, but whatever.

You've done the Cold War warrior proud Joe, it looks and sounds amazing. I'd be interested in some pics of the interior to see how you've got it all set up. I'm guessing you've got an Elmod in there?

I tried to man, but had nothing but issues. I gave up. Anyone can see the posted links, I made them shareable.

Thank you so much! It requires so much work to bring it up to date. This is the second one I have done, as the first was destroyed in a workbench disaster.

"Workbench disaster" is a fine euphemism. In static plastic modeling it's called a "wall chuck." :haha: That is a great job! In fact, if that's the success you have with two attempts, you are superbly skilled.

That's very kind of you. I have been building things for quite a while lol. I am very pleased with how this one runs. Only thing missing is the padded tracks which I am hoping someone has a set to sell me.
But the first Leo actually did run off the workbench to a concrete demise....
