Maxene

Post by PainlessWolf »

80 days in and everything build-wise is done. I had added stowage front and rear held on with a scale chain and rope. It took a couple of tries to get the rope right but I was happy with it eventually. I followed up with a 50% dilute of flat black and thinner and did a pin wash. After that, I experimented with a Tamiya Weathering Kit and did the lower hull in sand and dirt. A last subtle spray over with dull coat to preserve the weathering and 'Maxene' is finally complete. This has turned out to be a superb job, Painless! All of the details, the painting and weathering, the added stowage - has all culminated in a museum-quality model. It's nice that it's a runner, but with all of the details you've added to it; PLEASE be careful not to tear any of them off.

80 days, huh? Wasn't there a movie like that? "Around The Sherman In 80 Days" or something like that. I will look forward to your next build as well. -Mike

Well Painless.....you've done it.....with all that you have put into this build...you have accomplished something very special.... and with all that has already been said... you should know how this build sets a landmark here on the RCTANKWARFARE board.... your build is relatively famous now... as anyone who looks for schumo parts will come across pictures of your tank... leading them here to see the outstanding documentation of the birth of one MAXENE ...She stands as a proud example of a historical recreation...which is attributed to your skill and patience

The build is beyond praise or applause... so what I will say is ... I can't wait to see what you do with the next build :D

You're a great friend to everyone on the board... I feel we all benefit because of you being you

Unlike everyone else I am not fooled by the clever placing of a scale figure in the foreground of a real Sherman and then pretending it is a model. Truthfully a lot of hard work has produced a delight to the eye, Thank you for the build Painless, it now becomes a source of reference for the rest of us. It is nice to know that when the wind and snow are making other activities difficult one can always turn to making babies err no I meant building top class armour builds. shaun

HMMM....wondering Painless... did you use some of that Tamiya foliage detail on the commander... His eyebrows seem more pronounced... Now kind of resembling a young Charlston Heston
