Bruder conversion

Here is one of my Bruder conversion, probably the most simple and cheap effective method, but it still is a great truck.

I was given a weathered and dirty looking Bruder truck and rear loading unit by a friend as part of a swap for items.
It had sat in the shed for years, but the kids love playing with models, i recently got a box full of goodies of parts and found a un used chassis in there. I believe it was an MN99 models, so i just decided to check out the look underneath the truck. It looked ok, so there it began.

Parts needed
Bruder Cab & rear loading deck (screwed/bolted together)
MN99 chassis with motor and transfer case and axles and tyres
Bought a 22g servo for steering(made an adaptor to fit into the chassis, which was 3dp)
Then made adaptor for rear springs to stiffen them, so preloaded, as it was very soft on original springs!
Made some adaptors to bolt onto the rear chassis section and screw thru the loading deck
I decided to 3dp some of my own wheel hubs to match the tyres so it gives a better look
Designed and 3dp some rear light units, which may be connected later
Designed and 3dp a airtank and battery looking box for show, and hide a small receiver in
Designed and 3dp a fuel tank which doubles as a 2s lipo battery box

More parts to come like storage items in the back to hide esc and sound unit etc, but for now it works

It has alot of suspension travel, almost like a crawler, although at the moment has no real torque or power, but it copes ok in the garden and some rough items. If it needs more power later, we have some cool motor setups which are tried and tested, a dual 370 or single 540 transfer case option could be fun, but we have enough projects lol

Also doing another conversion for a friend, so here it is in comparison, the other one is a massive project and 8x8x4 and alot of trick parts, but we will show that another day

A Lovely use of a Bruder Truck, I venture to suggest this undercuts Tamiya's 1/14 r/c Trucks.
The 8 wheeler is something that takes my interest,
Talking of Bruder I have been looking for a long wheelbase Land Rover rolling 1/16 r/c chassis to fit Bruders Cheap but well detailed 1/16 Long Wheelbase body too.

hahahhaa
Bruder cab £10
MN99 chassis £20
Servo £10
ESC 2s £10
2s lipo £12
Flysky transmitter & receiver £45 (i know Tamiya trucks don't include haha)
LED light kit(still to buy) £15
Dasmikri sound(still to buy) £20?
3dp adaptors £10 maybe
= Tamiya undercut by miles hahahahahahaha

The 8x8 behind in one of the photographs is a big hefty piece of kit, currently weighs in at 11kg i think.
Full custom designed and made chassis using aluminium chassis rails and many 3dp braces, its built for bulk. Has a heavy haulage long range setup which gives places to hide electrics and stuff. The servos up front have 1 per axle to steer, it uses my dual 370 motor setup with transfer box to ensure AWD. All the axles are metal and heavily modified WPL/MN axles.
It has a 5th wheel on back and also a winch which i made which uses a geared motor and is fitted with stainless braided cable. Uses a small esc to operate the winch. There is servo on the 5th wheel, still to trial that
I just need to get it bolted together asap and test the chassis. It is a beast, but the cost is not far off a Tamiya in comparison due to the upgrades on it.

So the weekend was great for testing out the Budget Bruder conversion
You know what, it may not be the most powerful or the most sexy, but for kids and alot of other people, this would be such a great RC truck to play with if you are on a budget.
I am going to have to make more trucks again, taking something like this and having a ply is great fun for me and the user

Well a quick video of another Bruder conversion, this time winching another Bruder conversion.
Winch designed and made by WCP using 2s lupo and geared motor. With a snatch block in place, it should be good for pulling more than 10kg

We will post more videos and we may also be replacing the drive unit with a more powerful drive system, but we will only fix once its broke and we will increasingly use and abuse and enjoy the model and let the kids enjoy this fun hobby. It does get a hard life
