Wild Willy 2

Post by Ad Lav »

Picked up a new in box Tamiya Wild Willy 2 off a mate for something to play with :)

Fairly standard build, bearings and grill change, probably more of a military theme being added to it.

Obligatory box art shot...

Bearings installed in the gearbox.

Doesn’t take long to put the chassis together :)

Futaba S3003 servo.

Chassis pretty much finished, just need to get the esc sorted. I havn’t been able to use the tamiya ones as they don’t have a bec fitted. Probably have to buy a HW 1060.

That looks very cool, and I swear those are the same tires as the ones on the pick-up truck I plan to cannibalize for the Dragon 1/6 Jeep. Now I'll have to figger out how to swap back and forth, use the military tires for serious model video, and the monster truck tires for goofin' around! @) 8) :haha:
When FDR coined the phrase "The Arsenal of Democracy", he was talking about Detroit. Proud to live in the 2nd most violent city in America!!

I built my Wild Willy using all the Tamiya parts. It is controlled using a FlySky GT5. I am still not very knowledgeable about radio control. Wondering what you need the bec for.

Quite a funky truck, always wanted one :)

Looking forward to seeing how she handles.

The bec stops the full power of the battery going to the receiver and the servo’s. It can cause overheating and glitching if it gets full voltage.

Thanks. Not had any problems so far. I had a previous one many years ago which was a blast. This one did not pull wheelies nearly so well. I upgraded the motor with a Tamiya Torque Tuned which I had. Much better now. It's fun!

Decided to add a solid front bumper instead of the one with all the holes. Will sand the edges once it’s set.

Beginning to mark out a canvas roof for it too - steel wire frame for the back and a hole cutout for the window.

Going to ask my mum to sew it :)

Found some nice fabric which should be passable.

My Hobbywing 1060 esc arrived today - managed to setup just now.

All working as it should! Mocked up the body for a quick test run indoors, it’s nuts :D

Wheelies are such a laugh!

Here it is with a wild willy jr.
