R/c Sd.Kfz.2 Kettenkrad 1:16

Post by EddyK »

Hi, gentlemen!
In this January I found on the ebay an interesting model - Sd.Kfz.2 Kettenkrad 1:16. It was selling as non r/c model and I won the bidding on it! :) It time that it came to me, I found some info on the I-net about this model and I found out, that it is possible to make it r/c! :D
When model arrives, it turned out that there's no motor and gearbox in it... :( I wrote to the xion.de and got the answeer, that theese parts will be awailable only after aprox 6-8 months...
But then two weeks ago I found on the ebay another kettenkrad. It was partly built and it cames with all necessary electronics, battery, charger and driver figure!
And here comes some photos:

Eddyk,
Another great find and build! That looked like fun cramming everything into the compartment. Good thing the El Mod boards are small. ;o)

Good evening!
The work on the Sd.Kfz. 2 is still going on. As the steering of this model is terrible - it don't steers on the sand or the grass at all, on the internet was found good solution. It was necessary to take out the genuine gearbox with one motor and replace it with custom gearbox with two motors. But there was small problem with control unit, that allows to manage both motors in the same tame with steering servo. On the German webpage rc-panzerketten-forum.com I found info about control unit, specially made for halftracked vehicles:

The custom gearbox was made in last two evenings:

On this weekend the work would be continued... And I hope that after that this vehicle will steer as it should. :)

Good evening, gentlemen!
Yesterday I finally make my Sd.Kfz 2 move!
I replaced it's standart single motor gearbox with custom made twin motor gearbox and the result is amazing! It steers awesome now!
There's the video:
