Right, i know i am extremely busy helping my wife out with various new models at the moment, but i couldn't help but put my newly upgraded CR10S4 to the test and print something for me to think about developing next year somepoint.
So i made myself another train.
This one has been pulled from Thingiverse and scaled to 1/16. ALot is not going to work, so i will look at making myself a better more detailed version etc, but for now this will be a good test bed for some made plans to follow.

The model is a Kof ii which is a diesel shunter and these have been in use from when they were designed back in the early 1930s all the way up to the late 1990s.

It will run on a 3 1/2inch gauge rail setup.

I have some mad plans to see if i can get this to pull 1 full size adult and 2 kids with this thing. There is alot of power and weight to cram into it, so we will see.
But i will be welding a chassis and making alot of metal stuff for underneath to add weight.

This thing is quite large, the body alone took 400hrs to print. It uses roughly 1kg of filament soo far.
Once i get a smoker and lights and motors and chassis installed it should be pretty hefty and look great. Might have to make a Culemeyer trailer to pull it around with towed behind one of my trucks!

I am going for trying to fit either 4x 30w motors or 2x 60w motors or just 1 120w motor in it, but the difficulty is going to be the size as its quite a narrow loco, but i have found a cool PWM with reverse function for not too much money. but batteries may have to live behind it in some rolling stock or i use series wired lipos and then weigh it down with alot of ballast to help traction
would look damn cool pulling some armour though

The big body parts are complete, now time to add some details and then get in primer and stick on the shelf
Chassis work later in year or next as i don't have 3.5" rail to run it on yet.............

For those wondering how big it is, its almost as wide as a Panzer iii and just about the same length as a Panzer iii

This body weighs in at almost 1.5kg made from PLA and is very thick. Weight is good for trains for traction so its all good.
The steel tubular chassis should help add some more, so target weight should be maybe 15-20kg

I think the total print time just exceeded 400hrs! But it was a good test of my newly upgrade CR10S4 with direct drive. Everything was 0.1mm layer height.

Its a beastly looking loco, i want to do a steam loco next, but that's it for trains for now as we are still plodding away on the other projects

In the US we call those "little" locomotives "critters," probably because they crawl around small yards for factories, moving cars into place for loading and unloading. They can be fun on a large train layout working in a yard or tracks that can be separate from the long lash-ups hauling on mainlines.

It will be great for our small yard then.

If I could get land cheap or free for some scrap locally I would be tempted to make a larger layout as part of model village and rc model centre
