Jim,

Why does that blood of your's look so thin?! :wtf: Regarding your watching of RC sub video's; if this thing does go South, perhaps you could transform it into the CSS Hunley!? :haha:

Just got back from the cabin with Jess, had to pop in and say hi! :D

Cheers,
Eric.

;) Must be that bottle of “blood thinner” I keep in the cabinet.
Watch out for those copperheads, Eric. Warmer weather you know.

A little more progress. I’ve covered the foam with styrene sheet and after more sanding and trimming I’ll fiberglass it. Propeller shafts are on the way, 12 pounder deck gun on the way from Shapeways and I bought some brass tubing, rod and sheet material for making twin rudders.

My styrene sheets arrived today! 2 pieces are 24” x 48” x .040” and one 12” x 48” piece .020” thick. I covered the foam main deck with .040” styrene tonight. Be careful when using new #11 blades. Do not drink before using sharp objects!Image
I’m trying to decide whether to sheath the hull with styrene sheet or use fiberglass cloth and resin to cover it. Any boat people here with recommendations?
Slow going but I thought I would post my progress such as it is. Lots of filing and blending and shaping to do on the hull of course.

If you spill alcohol on your injured finger, then it burns like fire.
The first three words of the song "burning Ring of fire" are?
Burn, burn, burn ...

I applied the first layer of fiberglass cloth over the hull and this thing is really starting to come together. Never built an rc boat before but with a basic skill set it sure is fun and challenging to scratch build unique models in any scale you choose. After I finish some modifications to the stern and add the three keels I’ll add one or two more fiberglass layers using epoxy resin. The part I’m really looking forward to is working on the topside details.

Good Morning!
One saying, often quoted, about the City Class Ironclads was that ( and I paraphrase heavily here ) 'Due to their shallow 6' draft, they could navigate in a heavy dew' The Hull is really coming together! Following along!
