From what I know about it Speedline is no longer making one. I remember reading theirs was a little more detailed or better quality, but there are a bunch of folks that have the Torro version also.

Well the Torro arrived today…

It’s a neat build. A little less impressed that I should have been. Several dodgy connectors to sort before it came to life… lubed the shafts and checked the couplings and motors before a Bath test… and promptly threw a prop….

Shaft was barely being held by the Allen grub screw

Doesn’t leak which is good right :haha:

Like the door is controlled on a knob for realistic lowering and being able to partially drop the ramp..

Need ballast. A job for tomorrow after I’ve dug out the old dry suit weight harness… I reckon 4 kg should be about right…

Removed the oil drums from the fantail. Who would store flammable liquid on the ass of a flat bottomed barge in a force 5 while attempting to beach in a long shore current?

And even if a trained USN crew did decide to take along some extra Gas, you wouldn’t store barrels upright on a rolling deck…. And certainly not right by the engine room hatch and the bridge door…

So that’s buggered up the nice deck checker plate. Will have to provide more appropriate stowage to cover up the deck plate paint fiasco.

Also had to do summat about the M2 0.50 cals in front of the bridge… they are removable for cleaning and such and would not have been painted blue/grey…

And the 0.50 cal cans would be OD.

So after a few out of the box mods.. once I’ve taken on ballast…. It will be off to the pond at the weekend for sea trials.

The tyres will also have to go, it’s an LCM not a houseboat.

Its not bad out of the box & like others from KY Models, they can be fun to customize. Only wish KY & Torro had followed through with a crew set like was promised a few years back.

Our's, for the moment, carries beer & pigs.

My crew arrived today from Shapeways...

I’m not much of a painter, and with the eyesight going and hands shaking, it will be more Picasso than Rembrandt but I will post some piccys when they’re done...

Been eyeing the same - no pun intended!- so will probably follow suit & buy those, too.

I bought the officer helmsman, the 50 cal gunner and a kneeling sailor...

The 4th crewman in in 5he engine room...

The helmsman is in 4 bits... he fits the wheelhouse pretty well..
The Gunner is a tall dude for 1944... he’s 1/2” too tall for the gun... comparing him the the helmsman this dude is 6’6 tall... and it’s all in the leg so it’s amputation time...

I was going to use the kneeling dude on the starboard side by the ramp door.. but he doesn’t fit, so I’m putting him by the second 0.50cal with some 50 cal ammo boxes so it looks like he’s reloading...

You might need to update your last post so that it is referring a link or maybe upload as a picture.
