I'm quite lucky that I have a fairly local model boating lake at bury so at one point I'd usually sail at least twice month, usually more. There's a few big sub meets as well which I try to get to, so they get a fair bit of use. Submarines tend to work better when in regular use.

A little update, I wanted to put navigation lights on this one to both assist spotting her under water and to give a bit more intrest when on display. I found a uk supplier of pre wired nano (1mm!!) LEDs. To conceal the wiring on the planes I was going to drill a hole through for the wires to go but a couple of snapped drill bits later I gave this up. The wires are only 0.1mm thick so I scored a grove in the bottom of each plane and laid the wires in this once painted they should be invisible.

After some false starts and setbacks I finally got round to giving her a maiden voyage.

Great stuff Tom, don't know a lot about sub's but looks the part to me and seems to work very well.

Hey guys, again I seem to have skipped a few steps but she's now pretty much done. Just need to decide if I'm to add a little more weathering and depict the boat in afew years or leave as is.

I've given her a paint job, added depth marking, identification numbers and a Japanese naval ensign.

She had a run out at the bournville sub day and went very nicely.

Some pictures of the build.
