RC 1/16 Churchill Mk III - Dieppe Raid 1942 - Build
Re: RC 1/16 Churchill Mk III - Dieppe Raid 1942 - Build
Your models are in their own class and you’re at the top. Truly unbelievable realism and accuracy.
Re: RC 1/16 Churchill Mk III - Dieppe Raid 1942 - Build
Thank you Barry, Nab, Herman, Jimster and Raminator throughout the build. Yes, it was certainly the most complex model i undertook so far, very risky with potential critical pitfalls at every step. Lots of planning went into this one and few Ludwig parts were used in the end, but the ones that were used were useful, specially the suspension. If I had to build it again, I would only order the lower chassis parts and spend a bit more on metal road wheels.
Although there might have been other RC 1/16 Churchill Mk III built in the past, this one is probably unique in its combination of elements, specially the DKLM metal tracks.
Finally got my lettering decals from Fantasy Printshop. These are British RAF individual letters in two sizes, and lots of them. Its not easy to create words with these, placement and alignment of individual letters is difficult. The model is then applied with two coats of Tamiya flat clear. It was about time, the Mig Ammo acrylic paint was quite fragile, easily scratched.
Looking at CHEETAH one more time, i noticed the serial numbers on the sides are placed exactly under the tow cable running along the hull. Not the best position to be visible, but that’s where it needs to be also on this model.
And here is the finished model, presenting CHEETAH, a Churchill MK III of the Calgary Regiment. Colourful, the Dieppe tanks had no less than 14 markings.
With two Canadian tank crew and with deep wading stacks as seen when it would be loaded on the Tank Landing Craft.

: As if your mastery of model building isn't already enough. Your photography is also almost supernatural.

Thank you Painless, i think a Churchill Mk III is indeed pretty rare. The hull and turret are very different than the more common Mk VII. I am happy with the results. It also runs well.PainlessWolf wrote:A Stand-Out Churchill among all others.
And here is a short demo video of the model operating close to the camera.Model Builder 4 wrote:Another top draw build Louis look forward to the video of it in action
