1945 Jagdtiger Tank Destroyer

Time for another bit of detail to be added today. I hemmed and hawed a bit then went with the Schumo C Haken set. This was another find from Germany that Dave\Forgebear had wheedled off of the Continent for me. Hats Off always to him and Julie! This is a working detail set so painting the brackets will be far easier than the C Hooks on the Porsche King Tiger from the way back days.

A couple of evenings worth of fun here. I looked at reusing the original plastic part for the Jack Block ( paint and weathering, a little brass ) No. I thought about using a complete ABER Jack Block kit I have set aside for my Tamiya Tiger but really want to save that kit for it's intended Build. This left me looking at wood pieces and left over ABER brass sprues. I'm no Hotte but using the original plastic as a guide, I am pleased with the resulting piece. Mounted it tonight using a scrap plastic backing piece (Pershing spare track mount part) and a couple of screws. Moving on.

Painless, that jack block looks SO much better than the stock plastic one - a credit to both your insight and creative skills!

Hell of a job on such a small detail, but what a job you did
Kind of odd that in very late King Tigers, the jack and block were deleted as the vehicle was so heavy, even lifting one wheel station was deemed too hard in action, so they deleted the both of them.
Same with the late/last version Jagdtigers.................
For such precious prime weapons , every detail that could help get one out the gate & expect to survive on the battlefield was considered, and the saving of any resource which could then be diverted to another necessity, even a jack or its supporting accouterments could make a difference.

Thank you for looking in, my Friend. I suspect that I will only ever add one of these armored Giants to my collection. I should put some noteworthy detail into it. ;o) My shoulder is super sore after digging up sage stumps and planting trees after work today so I will return to the Hunting Tiger tomorrow afternoon. I am pretty sure that there are some cap chains that I can add to that rear plate as well as a reflector and some Jack detail.

Superb Jagdtiger Painless. Your attention to details is inspiring. I can see you’re putting your heart in these items, making your Jagdtiger unique. Scratch building is fun and rewarding. You would be surprised what you can do and how much our skills improve when we stop waiting for kits to come up to fulfill a vision. I think it is time for you to start purchasing your brass strips and rods of all sizes and thickness, and experiment. You’re ready.

More work on the Rear Plate occupied the last couple of days. Some small detail work and fitting of the Jack and Rear Fenders. Those are removable for painting and some flat brass to strengthen those Fenders on the underside. I have an idea for getting some vertical swivel movement out of their original mount points that will not sacrifice stability on such a heavy Runner. Onwards.

Your jack block looks better than any Aber kit. All this cool detailing makes me consider buying a second tank!
