Bandai hummel spg

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

Bandai hummel spg

Post by Model Builder 4 »

Afternoon all,

Recently I acquired this bandai hummel from a fellow forum member. I've started doing a bit of work on it beginning with fitting an heng long tk6.1s mfu which allowed me to add servo recoil and elevation for the gun, I've also fitted an heng long traverse motor unit for the limited gun rotation and barrel cannon flash. Just started working on the crew as they need a bit of modification to get the required pose. Next will be a few detail items and some camo. I've posted a video showing the gun functions and the state of play so far

Wow Lee. I think this was Bandias best offering. Own two of them myself. Detials were somewhat limited, but an unsung hero in the rc tank world.

Hey Carl, as you say the details and functions are certainly limited on the standard model, with a little work though it can be transformed into a decent offering. I'm pretty happy how adding the servo functions for the gun turned out. Have you upgraded either of yours ? Would love to see what you did with them if you have

Cheers, Lee.

Awesome crew figures! Very natural action poses and beautifully finished.

That looks excellent Carl  have you added any functions to the gun? Be interested in seeing how you achieved it

Cheers, Lee.

Sadly the gun has never been articulated...

I do however admire how fantastic yours functions.

I have to say the basic understated Camouflage pattern may be all you need for your Hummel. It looks great as it stands

I would be interested in seeing your gun mechanism it may give me an idea how to get my Achilles recoiling with flash and I would assume it’s all hidden under the gun?
It’s your tank it’s what you make it
