1/10 RC Jeep Willys MB - Long Range Desert Group-SAS- Build
Re: 1/10 RC Jeep Willys MB - Long Range Desert Group-SAS- Bu
That’s about as fine job of figure painting I’ve seen. You made it look easy!

Hi, thank you very much.
And to finish the build, here is an exterior photoshoot. I hope i made honor to the British Desert SAS. I am guessing that a 1/10 RC Desert SAS Jeep with figures, complete Jerrycan set and authentic armament is a rare sight. That $50 basic RC Jeep model ended up costing me 6 times that in add-on enhancements but this was a good build, and i learned a lot about the SAS, LRDG and the Jeep while building it. And it is running well with its new motor and transmission.
Clicking on the pictures will expand them.

lmcq11: I am sorry I had not viewed this full build until now (20 Feb. 2021). I was really excited by the work you did to correctly position and beef up the jeep's suspension. Then I saw the rest--everything from the first reconfiguration to the figures demonstrates your abilities. I congratulate you, northern neighbor, on your skill, practice, results, and thorough build record. Please consider publishing this in something like an RC magazine or maybe even Fine Scale Modeler.

An absolutely brilliant build,
I have one comment which I hope you won't take as a moan,
Every SAS vehicle used in the desert (Any Desert) carries a Very prominently mounted Sun Compass.

I think I am about to upset someone

Thank you very much Herr Dr. Professor and Jarndice !
Yes, fixing the suspension is not too complicated. Replacing the gearbox and motor with a 370 size motor, slow gearbox with metal drive shafts is a bit tricky because there is really not much room under. Some compromises are required but there is no comparison between before and after. With the original motor, the Jeep was weak and only good enough to run on a flat surface inside, no fun, it was a struggle to climb on a carpet... Now it's a real crawler. The Shapeways Vickers K twin machine guns costed more than the rest of the Jeep... I remove it before any real action.
