Might be some old pics on forum but going to put everything here. Going to try and get a start on this again, my Panther F has hit a dead end. Brass is lost in transit and my soldering station is having a flaky  Pictures to show whats been done so far , need to find pic for turret numbers or change camo. Just the tools , cables and jack to do . The old switch was playing up after i soldered cable on, so started with new switch. The Atak zimmererit is good where you need to open up the tank up.
P5213256.jpg
Too many stripes.
P5213255.jpg
Made a tow bracket with some brass scrap, and mudguards from thin brass sheet.
P5213254.jpg
Now who can date a tiger by the track cable fittings?
P5213253.jpg
Work on this stopped after the shovel was added.
P5213252.jpg
P5213251.jpg
Turret ring moved and added thick styrene to stop flex. servo converted for rotation ,2 gears are easier to position The side skirts are thin brass fitted centre brace, but not needed as its thicker than the PE stuff
P5213250.jpg
turret base adjusted to fit new centre.
P5213249.jpg
Fitted bearings in the Mantlet , drilled out the lifting pin and fitted tube for bearings.
P5213247.jpg
Old switch died as i tried to resolder a connection fitted a better switch.

P5223264.jpg
The cupola marked for cutting
P5223267.jpg
Cupola cut down and rear deck cleared
P5223268.jpg
Mid air intake, gas soldering iron is only running on max heat not very neat
P5223269.jpg
Long pins to fix, cleaned up a little paint will hide the rest
P5223271.jpg
Fitted air intake, holes line up and other filled.
P5223273.jpg
Removed old fan position and filled joint at cupola
P5223274.jpg
Tidied up roof edge at old fan
P5223275.jpg
Styrene then filler
P5233281.jpg
New fan position , managed to save old fitting
P5233282.jpg
Loaders periscope cut
Cant load more than 10 attachments, well the rest can wait. :D Need to find out about the panel in front of the exhausts as it wrong.

That's definitely an early version, what made you decide on that cupola? I thought they didn't have those until the late version came out with the steel roadwheels? Or possibly the mid had a cupola like that? I'll have to check that.

If you're going with the mid you'll need to lose the feifel air cleaners.

Yes, my mid version does have that cupola, but not the air cleaners.

OK. my bad, I now see that by the last photos you have indeed lost the air cleaners. Fine job, but it's not nice to confuse and old man like that!! 8) :haha:

I am interested by your question about the date of the Track Cable because the one shown should be on an "Early" Tunisian Tiger 1 which could be found in Panzer Abteilung 501 (It must be clearly stated that the German Armed Forces did not use the term MID to describe the evolution of the Tiger 1) which make the lack of a pistol port an unlikely sight at that date ,(1942/43)
Very late in the European war some of the Fehrmann Gruppe Tigers and other floating units could be seen with this particular track cable pattern but it was not a standard arrangement indeed by that stage of the war very little in the way of Standard fittings could be found on Tigers in the field,
A very nice build and Paint scheme

A tip for Anyone fitting the Working hinged front and rear Aber/Voyager Fenders,
I always glue a 1mm plasticard backing to them because the Photo-Etch is a bit too flimsy and tends to shake the fittings loose.

jaundice you are right about the PE mudguards and side skirts. Wish they would make the PE slightly thicker to improve the strength . Was going to use the Voyager m/guards and side skirts but found a thin brass sheet, i just transferred the sizes and made them. Brass is easy to use.

The voyager pe is used as a template

Hi max In July 43 Zimmermit and the new cupola were ordered to be fitted to the tank. So my early was way out, or it could have been a rebuild you never know. Like the zimmermit look , have a jagdpanther waiting for a build, it will have the Atak zimmermit.

Mid/late have this on the rear deck a triangular plate, another fix required.
Fixing the rear panel on the engine deck from early to a mid . Another little problem sorted out.
P5223271.jpg
For a mid or late the filler cover has to go and the retaining latch moves over to the right.
P5243306.jpg
Removed the detail thats wrong.
P5253314.jpg
Panel and retaining latch fitted.
P5253323.jpg
View along engine deck, the rear of the air intake should be enclosed. May fix it with plasticard.

DKLM used to sell the filler caps in metal and I spent far too long pin vicing out the plastic/abs blanks and tapping a thread for the replacements,
A side advantage was the opportunity by the judicious rerouting of the plumbing to use the DKLM filler caps as a means to refill the smoker without having to separate the tank body from the hull and with the battery charger socket built into the rear panel of my Tigers via the inertial starter plate I rarely have the need to open my Tigers at all.
I am really enjoying your build, I love the attention to detail

So when you first bought this tank it was an Early? I ask because I bought what they say is a mid, but it doesn't have that triangular plate. One more thing I need to fix one day? You did a great job on yours, hope you won't mind if I flagrantly copy all your hard work. Bwahahaha!

Hi Max This is the tiger kit, an early one. As for the build if you dig down in the builds everything is available . Its the ones who first decided that HL was OK but not quite right. They should take the credit :haha:

Another fix the mudguards and the frame holding them.
P5233284.jpg
Getting the cutout rectangular no notches.
P5233286.jpg
The frames for the mudguard were deleted, just welded onto rear hull.
P5233288.jpg
Removed
P5233294.jpg
Some spare Atak zimmermit and AK putty.
P5233293.jpg
Job done and a view of beefed up mudguard in brass.

P5253325.jpg
Tow hitch set up for solder
P5253328.jpg
Cut brace wire and file flush ,side view.
P5253329.jpg

Trying to hide the rear hull joint . Another little error from HL rear plate should sit flush with rear deck, some zimmermit to hide the joint.
P5263334.jpg
Looks bad when the air filters are gone
P5263337.jpg
With paint it should blend in and hide the joint.

Another way to hide the rear plate join is to remove a 2mm strip along the length of the rear body and add a 2mm strip to the whole length of the top of the rear plate.
Judicious use of "Green Putty" and a little work with "Wet & Dry" will make the addition to the rear plate invisible.

Whilst I applaud the handmade tow hitch it does not look anything like the prototype,
