Early m4a1

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

The mantlet efforts so far. At this stage I still can’t see if a casting will work

Some but not much progress. The upper has arrived and my cast has now been sent to my dad to make a printed version. Which may be available for purchase once the bugs are ironed out. The upper is undergoing a rework to get it to a point I’m happy with but the mudguards and side skirts will be a complete scratch design and build once the materials come. I will stick a photo up of where it’s at a little later

So the work so far. Is pretty much as stated before.

This is the photo with the upper offered up. The white bits are strips of plasticard which had to be added to make everything to the same height but the skirts and mudguards will later be fixed to these.
As you can see I will need to make the engine hatch and a few bits and pieces

That hull looks really nice now that it is painted. I can see plenty of grinding and filling to get mine that good.

I haven’t done anything other than prime it to see where the blemishes are and it’s a good cast from Ludwig not many blemishes at all.

Oh gosh, that hull looks awesome. Is that how it comes for the 85 euros? With hatches?

Yeah that’s how it comes. It does have hatches metal. May be able to make them so they open. There’s not much trimming to do on them but if you use the split transmission cover the will be a little modifications need doing to get the fit. As you can see in the photo I chose to raise the whole thing by 2mm rather than hack 2mm off the front. As I’m putting skirts on it will hide that little mr meaner

Cool, cheers  I guess I'll just have to order one when I work out how you do that, no basket to put items in :(
