IS3 build

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

IS3 build

Post by Exhibitedbrute »

Welcome to the first of my build threads. Like many of you the lockdown has prompted me to start one of my more serious builds.

The photos I have for you today on the build are the unboxing and the turret after it’s been worked on
Enjoy

The turret. Cast wise it was quite good not much excess to take off as you can see there are some air bubble that have left holes in the bottom of the turret that will need filler but all in all not to bad

Mk Modellbau has some exceptionally good components, and upgrade parts to choose from. You're off to a great start with those tasty looking bits

Looking through it all most of it won’t require that much work. However the plastic wheels will likely be discarded in favour of the Torro metal is wheels a there is little to no difference between them and the diameter of the plastics is the same as the late kv1 wheel

Little progress has been made on the is3 today as I have been making a suspension prototype to send to my dad to be printed for the a1.

What has been done on the is3 though is prepping the Taigen hull. I will put photos up when I do a bit more

Looks like a good bit of kit. One day I will do a Russian tank - maybe a T34/76.

So the progress

Finally the mammoth task of removing the excess. I started this with the trusty dremmel but as progress was a little slow swapped to the more heavy handed approach of hammer and chisel. Now it’s getting somewhere
