Re: Panzer II – fundament of the German Panzerwaffe
It’s been a while since my last report; there were some issues with the functional bogies. After some different trials I fixed the design with 0.3mm spring steel strips.
The stiffness can be adjusted with the length of the shims.
> overall length (above) => stiff
> middle length (below) => medium
> no shim => soft
Overview of the bogie parts:
… a bogie mounted …
…and attached to the lower hull. The last bogie is different like at the original tank.
The track gear system is the same style I’m used to for small tanks.
All parts of the gears …
… the aluminum plates are glued together …
… and the mounted gear.
Because I’m using the same gear for the Panzer I, some additional plates are used to combine.
These are the parts of the idler including the track tensioner.
This kit is using the Asiatam Maultier tracks with 99 track links each.
Cheers,
Freddy

That is one superb bit of engineering and execution. It's great when a well thought through plan comes together. Highest kudos, Freddy.

Thanks for your comments!
Some little update to report.
After attaching some details, the lower hull is roughly finished.

Switching to the lower hull and its main parts…
…and with adding some small details the upper hull is roughly finished.
The turret is again a very easy design of less parts.
…moveable commander hatches
After mounting all together the assembly is done so far…
