The weather is terrible this week so added more detail to the IR unit. Some bolts , elevation lever, cut away base, small wire for front cable , eyepiece and headrest. Tidy up next.

Technical issue , paint problem. Made another one as it was easier than removing the paint. One advantage of a remake is that you know the build and which order to make a better version. Made the tube for searchlight able to feed wires for led.

Loops and angle bar are better.

IR version 2, no more playing about with it . Wired up ,need some red or blue leds. Just a lens to fit on scope and searchlight. Pics show some faults but from a foot away it passes :D

Hi, nice work. I've just fitted a resin lR system on my Panther F but did some research which suggests there was no visible light given out by the lamp as it was all lR. Indeed, given it was for night use, you wouldn't want any light for the opposition to spot! Seems like a lazy option but that search light doesn't appear to need a bulb!

If you have any evidence to suggest otherwise please let me know :)

Thanks for your help. I wonder what causes the very dim blue hue. I don't think modern IR lamps produce this effect. It's not natural reflected light bouncing off the reflector, is it? That is typically blue.

I have no quibble with that explanation but if the light is filtered so that only IR light is emitted, you wouldn't see any light at all. That takes me back to... Don't fit a bulb! ;)

That said, since the Panther F l've mounted on is arguably fictional then why not throw in a nice coloured light?? 8O

Thanks again. So a blue led with lots of resistance added would give that dim, dull look. I like the idea of a dim glow regardless. As for power supply, Taigens IR apple socket is in the hatch well and I'm sure two of the pins will be a +/- supply l can tap (plug) in to. The plug will help stabilise the lamps and figure too. Big thanks for that
