DUKW Build.

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

DUKW Build.

Post by Model Builder 4 »

Morning all,

This is something that I've been working on for the past couple of months. It has a 3D printed hull which is designed to be water tight and float but seeing as I have nowhere to sail it I did not go to the trouble or effort of making it so. It has 6x6 drive, runs off a 60amp esc with a metal truck gearbox, it also has a truck sound module fitted and I'm using a 3s lipo battery . Nearly all of the add ons and accessories I have made for it including a removable rear canvas cargo cover and wheel arch panels which are also removable. It's a fair lump so when I'm ready I'll have to stock up on lots of paint for it :D

Cheers, Lee. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Thanks for the kind words GJ :D I'll have to get the heater on in the garage as it's too big to fit in my airbrush spray booth :haha:

What a brilliant job you have made of an almost forgotten war winner.
I look forward to the painting and weathering,
Just about everyone who sees a DUKW for the first time remarks on how big they are which makes it easy for a 1/16 to fit into a 1/14 diorama.
I assume that it will be a vehicle in service with the American Armed Forces given that the driver and the corpsman are dressed as such :D
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Looks good. Did you print the hull yourself? Is it all one piece? If not, how many pieces make up the hull? Will you be sharing stl files or offering them for sale?

Can't wait to see video once it's painted.
When FDR coined the phrase "The Arsenal of Democracy", he was talking about Detroit. Proud to live in the 2nd most violent city in America!!
