New project Matilda 3/4

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

Just the lift brackets, rear view hatch, and smoke launcher to do on the turret

I just need to get some electronics into it and see if it drives.

You must be very pleased with this build Alwyn. I sure would be! I'm not a great fan of ww2 British armour but the Matilda breaks all my prejudices, so much character!

Thanks for the comments everyone, yes I'm very pleased with how it's turned out. I just need to get it running to prove the suspension works. I've been trying to get several old HL mfus to work (the one with a separate receiver and frequency crystals) but without any success, either the mfus or receivers are faulty. I am trying to source an mfu and acu from rc35 but they haven't got back to me yet. I shall persevere with the old stuff in the meantime.

Many thanks to Stuart (stu_the_flat) who very kindly sent me some HL electronics, I installed them and here's the test.

The tank movement seems good, I haven't tested over obstacles yet but it has proved that the motor choice is good and it has reasonable speed and maneuverability (thats a long word for this time of day!)

So far so good

I've been having fun with paint effects (as you can see I have a long way to go but it's fun!) and in the background you can see the next tank work in progress, as I am putting together an instruction manual on building a tank from a kit. Please don't get all excited as this one is spoken for by Mick as he registered his interest when I first started on the tank. I will be taking orders and there will be three options, a copy of the stl's for own printing for £50, a kit of components for self build (price still to be determined) and a built tank (again price to be determined). The assembly manual will be posted to the downloads section when complete.
