Russian MB-LT Army Surplus Logging Machine

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

Russian MB-LT Army Surplus Logging Machine

Post by wibblywobbly »

I've always enjoyed watching these You Tube videos of ex-army tracked vehicles ploughing through the Siberian wasteland. Nothing seems to stop them. The MB-LT and it's variants seem to be favourites for logging and supply vehicles so seeing as I can't buy one I am having a go at making one.

No armaments, and a modified rear hull should give it that Mad Max look, and if I can make it amphibious so much the better. It should be an interesting project if nothing else! :/

and this is where I am at the moment.

LOL, trust you to find something obscure. How about turning it into a mad max machine, or a moon buggy to compliment one of your past builds ;)

I will be happy if it runs reliably! lol. Hopefully it will, I will use it as a mud plugging off road machine.

I am leaning towards nylon gearboxes as they will be immune to water getting on the gears and corroding them, but I may have to go the low ratio route. I can solve that problem when I get to it... 8O

Progress so far, it will be cut in half and the front and rear printed separately, I loaded the whole thing into Cura and it would take more than 5 days to print it. 8O 8O 8O

Wow, well done Rob

Looks like you have plenty of room for the electronics, but that sloping front looks like you're going to have fun fitting those gearboxes

Fear not my friend, the gearboxes are a perfect fit, even the high/low ones, it's all in the design.

That was a funny video. This vehicle seems a bit heavy for civilian tasks... It may not have any armament but it sure does destroy everything on its way. This will be a fun RC machine, no need to fear something breaking.
