Panzer 4 Shurzen.

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

Panzer 4 Shurzen.

Post by jarndice »

I have downloaded the file on the PZ4 Shurzen and it appears to have all the information I need EXCEPT the thickness of the Brass sheet and the width of the Brackets
I figure either 2mm or 3mm for the sheet but I have no idea about the brackets, can anyone give me the actual widths ?
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

If I recall correctly schürzen were 5 mm on the hull and 8 mm on the turret, so 0.5 mm brass sheet would give you scale thickness.

Best advice from me is use material you can cut with a good pair of industrial scissors.
Unless you have a guillotine of course.
0.3mm or 0.4mm if you can get it.
I used 0.5mm but it was too thick for scissors and I had to use snips.
Then spent ages dressing the cut edges.

Thank you Gentlemen, Most helpful,
I was about to start looking for a supplier of CHEEP Brass sheet but in the fine tradition of modellers worldwide I searched around the house first,
Did you know that a Heinz Chicken and Mushroom steel soup tin is 0.26mm thick,10.5cms wide and 22cms long ? Being steel it is of course magnetic which is handy if you are looking for an alternative way of keeping body and hull together when combined with a couple of countersunk magnets.
And the soup was delicious :haha:
As to softening the edges I usually clamp a file in the vice and using a pair of industrial gloves run sharp or burred edges along the file and that's another job done.
For a soft finish I run the edge along an oil stone,
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

After 45 years we seem to be getting the hang of each other
As to the neighbours, we have woods to the back and one side and a farm on the other and a lane to the front.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Good morning,
It works well! The unsuspecting "populace" around here is usually down at one of the two saloons that this town sports or out herding cattle. I'm usually out back 'filing and cussing' or 'banging on things with a brass hammer and cussing'. Take your pick! Jarndice understands.
regards,
Painless

( Thanks for letting me add my two cents about living out in the 'Blue' )
